Title: Applying to graduate programs in the US: Tips from a program director
Abstract: What makes a graduate school application stand out? Are good grades enough, or must I
do research as an undergraduate? What should I write in my personal statement? What makes a
strong recommendation letter? Should I contact faculty members prior to applying? Having served
as the director of the PhD program in bioinformatics and genomics at Harvard for more than a
decade, Dr. Park will share his experiences in reviewing applications and offer some guidance.
