Title: Brain-specific CD8+ T cells and brain homeostasis
Neurons, astrocytes, and microglia crosstalk between each cell is an essential feature of the
healthy brain. The breakdown of this communication is often suggested as an important
mechanism in neurological disorders. Recent advances indicate that the brain itself has immune
cells. The immune cells in the periphery, meninges, and brain parenchyma can provide
homeostatic support to the brain in the non-pathological condition. Alteration of these immune
cells may be involved in neurological consequences such as anxiety, social behavior, and
learning and memory. However, it remains largely unknown how these brain-specific immune
cells are involved in maintaining homeostasis between brain resident cells or how they affect
brain functions. Here, we want to assess whether and how CD8+ T cells in the healthy brain can
influence canonical behaviors by affecting neuronal MHC I.
